For a message in Recent Search Results is there a way to find the name of the folder in which it is contained

The folder name is included in the search results window, second to the last right-most column.  You may need to stretch that window or narrow the From and/or Subject column width to see it.

Haha. All these years using Pegasus and I never realised that.

Thanks Brian.

I asked the same question many years ago.  That window size and the way the visible column widths fit in it just doesn't provide a clue that there's more.

New problem:

I have now run a search which lists a containing folder.

I can see the folder and its containing tray  in Hierarch.pm

HOWEVER the folder and tray no longer appears in 'My Mailbox'.

Perhaps the tray you are looking is inside of another tray

FWIW, the folder list can fail to display folders that have the same name.  This wouldn't explain the missing tray though.

I have checked through all the trays many times now and cannot see the missing one.

Also if it was inside another I would assume that this would show within Hierarch.pm - correct ?

But the tray (CURRENT) only shows here

1,2,"19C41342:CURRENT","59B11138:00","CURRENT"

apart from entries pointing to its folders e.g
0,0,"I4HHA6MZ:3C9D:FOL036E7","19C41342:CURRENT","0-viking"

I'm at a loss Harvey.  My only experience with missing trays and folders is to find them in another tray.

I agree that if that were the case there should be an identifiable entry in HIERARCH.PM.

I wonder if an indexing issue might result in false location info in a search.  Even if it did, I'm not sure how to go about fixing it.  The mbxmaint_ui.exe utility comes to mind.  You can run a check of all folder by leaving the Folder field blank.  Note:  I've had this utility hang on occasion; never figured out why.

Anyone else have any thoughts on finding a missing folder and tray?

I ran mbxmaint_ui.exe with a blank folder and it said
#041 No matching folder files found.

Mind you I got the same result when I entered a valid folder name.

With regard to the entry above
1,2,"19C41342:CURRENT","59B11138:00","CURRENT"

would it be an idea to alter it so that CURRENT points to a containing tray such as
MY Mailbox. If so what would I change ? Thanks

Misinformation from me!  You need to enter the path to the mailbox directory or use the browse button.  A piece I don't recall is whether you just exclude a specific folder name or use the "*" wildcard symbol to get it the check them all.  Suggest you have a backup of your mailbox.

This gets beyond knowledge level.

I ran a check on

C:\PMAIL\MAIL\ADMIN\*.*

which gave

Checking 'basic.pnc'...
!! Found internal consistency error:
#010 Error opening folder index file

I then ran a repair on the same and got

Repairing folder 'C:\PMAIL\MAIL\ADMIN\*.*'...
#072 Could not open the specified folder master file.
#074 Unable to proceed with rebuild operation.
** Errors occurred while repairing the folder.

This indicates that only the three default folders exist.  It doesn't appear that your home mailbox directory is Admin.

Go to Pegasus Mail's Help pull down menu then select "About Pegasus Mail...".  Click the Info button then check the path for the home mailbox location in the resulting display.

The .PMN file is an annotation file so isn't relevant.  I'm actually surprised the mbxmaint utility checked it.  The folder indexes report fine so I don't know what else to suggest as an explanation for why search results would display a source folder that you can't find in the folder list.
