Problem moving mailbox location

Be aware that the PMAIL.INI file resides in the new mail directory which does not move.

From the help file topic Preferences and settings > Mailbox location:

Even if you move your home mailbox location, your new mail will continue to arrive in the default new mail directory: Pegasus Mail will also continue to store your PMAIL.INI settings file in that directory. This is important for the continued correct operation of the program and is neither an error nor an oversight. You cannot relocate your new mail folder using this option.

I am trying to move my mailbox location of two large accounts (both >20 GB of material) from my almost full internal SDD to an external memory card.

I was able to do so with two smaller accounts (around 5GB each), but now with the first of my two large accounts, it doesn't work.

When I go to the Mailbox location in Mail Preferenes and Settings, fill in the new mailbox path, click "Move mailbox content to new location", in the smaller accounts there was a a moving files windows popping up and the necessary files were moved to the new location. But when I do it with the large account, this moving pop-up window does not occur and nothing happens.

What should I do?

Jan,

I never need to change my mailbox location nor I have one as big as yours, so take this advice cautiously.

What caught my attention was this warning: If you have checked "Move mailbox contents...", clicking "Change now" will result in Pegasus Mail shutting down and running the mailbox management utility to relocate your mailbox. Did Pegasus Mail shut down before moving your mailbox? It seems to have not by your event description. Anyway, you may try MbxMaint_ui from the command line. You can find this application in your ?:\Pmail\Programs directory. It is highly desirable to backup your data prior to any further action.

First and most important, shut down Pegasus Mail. Then run MbxMaint_ui where you shall inform where the PMAIL.INI file belonging to your mailbox is located and to where it shall be moved in. Click the Move now... button and it should do fine. The MbxMaint_ui utility calls the same mbxmaint.exe as does Pegasus Mail.
