Me and
my dad both have a M/32 server running. I want them to be each other’s backup.
In DNS
control I’ve setup:
an entry
for mail.domain1.com to handle 1st mail for domain1.com pointing to
my own IP
an entry
for mail2.domain1.com to handle 2nd mail for domain1.com pointing to
my dad’s IP
an entry
for mail.domain2.com to handle 1st mail for domain2.com pointing to
my dad’s IP
an entry
for mail2.domain2.com to handle 2nd mail for domain2.com pointing to
my own IP
In M/32
on server running domain1.com i’ve made a global filtering rule:
Rule type:
headers
Contents:
FCTSRE Contains @domain2.com
Action:
Move to another user -> hostdom2
Server
running domain2.com polls via MercuryD to deliver on domain2.com
I
thought this should work but following happens:
When
server domain2.com is down, emails are indeed arriving at server domain1.com
M/32
however returns an error:
T
20070928 093138 46fc3e73 Connection from 123.123.123.002
T
20070928 093138 46fc3e73 EHLO lsvmail.ua.edu

E

not known.
T
20070928 093210 46fc3e73 Connection closed with 123.123.123.002, 32 sec.
elapsed.
Am I trying
something impossible here or am I just making a mistake?[/quote]
You make this very difficult to help you since you did not provide either domain. Without the domains we can't check your setup. In addition, when you setup the MX host you must setup a "domain" account at this host so that the other host can receive it for the other to retrive via MercuryD.
