Pegasus Mail Suggestions
About the progress reports

Hi all !

I just wanted to make a suggestion to David concerning the so-called progress reports that pop out from time to time.

It seems that he somehow "suffers" to not be able to make them as often as he wants.

Since Pegasus is a one-developer team (for the core parts because for the rest he can count on a great community), I suggest what follows.

Make only 3 reports per year, one every four months. So if the first one is on the 1st of January, then the 2nd would on the 1st of May and the 3rd on the 1st of September.

If this "routine" was to be accepted, I believe it would simplify David's tasks regarding progress reports and there is a good chance he could say goodbye to what I qualified using the word "suffers".

Why ? In my opinion, because the effort needed would only be to get used to a rhythm. There would not be any thinking regarding the time that went by since the last reports.

Also, if it happens that one of the above dates does not get a progress report "published" or posted, then by itself it would indicate that David could not do it for a good reason. He would not need to eventually give an explanation later as to why there was a miss.

So what do you think ?

Cheers.

I don't know where this is coming from. In the November '24 progress report David said

"This is the first instalment of what is intended to be a regular monthly
progress report on the development of Pegasus Mail and Mercury. Each
month, on the first day of the month, I will provide a brief summary of
what I have been working on..."

He has posted monthly progress reports since.

Hello.

Sorry, I did not see these monthly reports. The last communication I read was that of november 2024, the very one you mentionned.

Thus, I thought that he was under work and couldn't meet the constraints of delivering a report every month. And in the past, he somehow "suffered" not to communicate as often as he wanted.

That is why I had this idea of the 3 fixed-dates reports every year.

In the message of November 2024, there is no indication of where those monthly reports will be posted. Could you tell me where they are ? I suppose on the forum of the community, but what would be the thread ?

Cheers !

In the "Categories" section at the right on the main page, it's the fourth item down - "Progress reports".

Cheers!

Hello !

Thanks a lot for pointing the location of the thread and my apologies for not finding it on my own.

As a last suggestion on this thread, it could proved useful to update the message of november 2024 with a link to the "progress updates" thread.

David, many thanks for your time, dedication and work for all these years.

And to all the others : cheers !
