PS: I'm in the process of switching to a new Windows 11 computer in a few days. Any chance that might fix it?
Easy answer first... No.
What I suspect is happening is that the "Select a mail folder" window is opening offscreen. Pegasus Mail is waiting for a response to it, but you can't provide a response so it sits there frozen. There are a couple of ways to fix it. The first one resets the position of all 'selector' windows. The second resets only the specific window causing the problem. You get to choose which one to use.
1) Reset the window positions for all 'selector' windows.
There is an undocumented commandline option that will start Pegasus Mail in Guided Startup mode. That commandline option is -GS. It must be the first commandline option in the commandline so I suggest a copy/paste of your existing commandline into a Run command and then adding the -GS option before executing.
Guided Startup mode presents an options window that contains two functions. The first provides the opportunity to make a one-time change to the command line options. The second is an option to reset window positions for 'selector' windows. Select this option to reset all 'selector' windows to their default position.
- Edit STATE.PMJ to reset the position of the "Select a mail folder" window.
The STATE.PMJ file which resides in your home mailbox directory. If you don't know where that is go to Pegasus Mail's main pull-down menu and select Help > About Pegasus Mail then press the Info button. You will find the path to the home mailbox location in the configuration information that is displayed.
With Pegasus Mail closed, open STATE.PMJ file in a text editor like Notepad and locate the [SELFOL] section. Delete any "Select a mail folder=" and "Select a mail folder RS=" entries that exist. Do not leave a blank line in place of the deleted lines. The default window position will be used the next time a "Select a mail folder" event is triggered.
