The answer is already in your first paragraph: Just attach the respective CNM file to a new message like any other file. It would certainy be helpful to move it to another place or ZIP it for avoiding further freezes. Please send it to <beta-reports [at] pmail.gen.nz> for avoiding rejection by my email provider.

Thanks for submitting, Martin, but I don't see any such issue neither on Win10 nor Win7, not with IER 2.7.3.2 nor my current development version. There might be some further diagnostics required using my MiniDump debugger if you wouldn't mind: Instructions later if so.

Hi Maybe is problem in connection with settings eastern Europe characters. I see in Settings - Default MIME character set ISO-8859-1 I can not find any other settings of code page. Martin

In my PMAIL.INI I have 3 lines for each identity.
Default MIME character set = UTF-8

Don't know if that would make a difference
Just went directly to look at PMAIL.INI text file with Pegasus closed.
Not sure were this would be changed.

Is this CNM file something that could be shared? Seems most of these messages that cuase problems are SPAM messages that have poor code. Did once have messages from Amazon that had some poor html code that caused issues, and wrote a script to correct it. Sent it to Amazon, and then stopped getting messages with code.
Also, had messages from Ebay that would have these encoded messages that would turn out to be lines that were well over a 1000 characters long with no spaces. Would had script that would decode and just remove those long lines.

Would be interested in message? Is it big or how long or lines, or encoding used?

Good Luck.

Have a strange problem with Alexa+ myself at moment. Ask it for time and date and it often says it is July 18th, 2025 at 11am?? Seems to often give other answers with 11am or 11pm when the minute is no where near 00. Sometimes have to go thru up to 20 tries to have it return correct, date and time. Many times give up, and tell it correct date and time, sometimes when Asked for source, it response with correct answer because I just told it?? Tell it answer is a calculation GMT +10 or to just use TZ=Pacific/Guam date to calculate, and it says great ideal. But then hours later it Says July 18th, 2025 at 11am again?? Has even said that is from outdated data from 2007? Conversations are nice, but data isn't correct.

Not sure who actual is beta-reports?
Just seeing the issues that might cause problems.

Had an issue with Amazon messages that wouldn't cause crash, but display was off.

This little script would make changes to correct minor issue.

#!/usr/bin/bash
sed -i 's</b> <br /> </p>=20</b><br /></p></td>_g' $1

Sent to amazon, and they resolved it, since having seen that issue for long time.

It's the report address David Harris provides for reporting issues with Pegasus Mail, especially public betas (hence its name). I'm filtering and pre-processing those or request MiniDumps to be sent there as well as sample messages otherwise being possibly rejected by my email provider. See my previous replies in this thread.

What MiniDump debugger do? What it send to you?

It will record commands and values used by Pegasus Mail while doing it's job so they can help in tracking down where a malfunction occurs. Together with a specific kind of data base (created by the compiler David Harris uses) it enables us to see (with the help of Microsoft's WinDbg application) which modules and code is involved especially in causing crashes. Since you're encountering a freeze there's a special call to create a snapshot of the situation which might help in locating program code issues. Other applications (Firefox, e.g.) are providing similar ways for tracking down serious issues.

The MiniDump debugger can be downloaded from < https://www.pmpgp.de/pmtools/MiniDumpAndSources.zip >. It provides an installer which will setup all necessary files for you and create a program group in the Windows Start menu including an item called PMDebug Snapshot which needs to be used in a situation when Pegasus Mail hangs.

Everything else for completing a message and sending it to a predefined email account on David Harris' server which I can access for analysing. You should be shown how to continue by dialogs. There's also a ReadMe file providing more details about this Debugger, here's a screenshot of the repective menu (German version, there's an English one as well, of course) showing the snapshot item at its bottom:

PMDebug Snapshot was send

Well, without asking David Harris about his coding (I'm going to do so later) I can tell from the dump that Pegasus Mail appears to get into an infinite loop while applying spam detection rules. If you would want to try some more diagnostics you could at least disable spam detection: As a first step test opening your messages with SpamHalter disabled: via Pegasus Mail main menu select Tools > Spam and content controls > Spamhalter. Next try would be disabling Content Control from the same menu. David Harris should be able to tell more about this, though, but maybe you can figure it out yourself.

Great to hear! Since I'm not familiar with Content Control I can't tell whether it would be possible to modify its rules, maybe someone else can provide some hints with regard to this?

I'm also not clear on Content Control?

SPAMBUST.DAT seems to be the file that contains info

#
# Mercury/32 Basic Content Control rule file.
# Copyright (c) 2002-2003, David Harris; portions copyright (c) 2002 David Kocmoud.
# For information on the syntax and format of this file, please consult
# the "Content control" section of the Mercury/32 Help file.
#

It has like 620 lines in it, and would think that might be one or more of those lines are causing the issue.

I would make a copy of the SPAMBUST.DAT file, and then try just deleting lines in the file to try to figure block or single line that might cause problem.

Syntax is a little difficult to see clearly. The ob thru me off until I found
# Check for all variations of "viagra" and similar products in subject and body
# Note that the "obfuscated" keyword, which is used to trap doctored versions of
# trigger words like "vi@gra", can be abbreviated to "ob".

Also looking that it adds tags on matches, and could be that the message causes it to add to many tags, and might cause an overload?

Would probable take some work to find what is exact cuase.

Good Luck.

I don't use Content Control either but am curious about whether the enabled rule set is the default one named "Basic Spam Detection". If so, I'm also curious whether it has been modified (filename spambust.dat). There is an original in \Programs\DEFAULTS for comparison, or perhaps run a test replacing the current one in the mailbox directory with the default one.
