MAPI isn't so much a standard as just something that MS basically shoved down everyone's throat. Additionally, they managed to create two separate versions of it that are completely incompatible with each other and cannot be both installed on the same system. So, first you need to find out which version of MAPI your software supports. The original version was never released out of beta and is what we'll call "Simple MAPI"; it could only support one messaging application per system. The second version was released as MAPI 1.0 and supports multiple messaging applications simultaneously (the hefty MAPI 1.0 technical documentation makes for good reading if you're an insomniac).
If you check your Pegasus Mail program directory, you should find a file called "wpmmapi.exe". You can run that to install either version of MAPI for use with Pegasus Mail. Please read the included Help file during installation for more info. Good luck!
