1 & 3. Always use the normal email address.

2. It will be intercepted by the alias and delivered locally.

4. Configuration menu, Aliases..., Add new alias

Hello<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I am configuring the mercury32.   I am facing the following problem.  Please help me with a solution.

I have 5 user ids at a remote pop3 server. (for e.g. user1@123.com, user2@123.com …..user5@123.com)

I have configured mercury32 and configured it to download user1, user2 & user3 emails from the remote pop3 server.

Everything is fine and I am able to send and receive emails for the above mentioned IDs locally as well as to the internet.

The problem is user4 and user5 is not configured on my mercury32 server (since they roam and they want to access the emails directly using OE).  Whenever user1 sends a email to user4 he is getting the following error

Quote

The local mail transport system has reported the following problems
it encountered while trying to deliver your message:

-------------------------------------------------------------------
*** <
user4@123.com>
User <
user4@123.com> not known at this site.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

End Quote.

If the user is not a local then the mercury server should forward the same to the relaying smtp server which is my internet mail server which will send the email to the corresponding mailbox.

Please help me solving this issue.

Thanks

skv

The Mercury server isn't really mail handler for the domain 123.com, it's the external mail server. Try removing 123.com from the local domain list and instead create aliases for user1@123.com, user2@123.com and user3@123.com pointing to the local users user1, user2 and user3.

Mr. Rolf,

 Thanks for the reply.

I have few questions.

1. What would be the email address for local users?

2. If I send one email from user1 to user2 will that be local or non-local

3. What would be my email id when the user2 sends an email to user4@123.com and it will be displayed for them (user2@123.com or something else)

4. Also can you provide me with an example of creating aliases in mercury (I tried synonym and it is not working with Outlook)

 Please advise,

Thanks in Advance

SKV.
