Pegasus Mercury & Imap

Multiple IMAP connections to the same account are indeed possible and I do it regularly.

I find that messages can be 'marked as deleted' but not expunged while there is more than 1 connection.

Also I have noticed some (infrequent) CLIENT SIDE cache mismatches (with Outlook & Thunderbird) requiring clearing the cache / reindexing on the client, however this also occurs sometimes on exclusive mailboxes.

I don't use Pegasus as a regular client but recall from the documentation somewhere that Pegasus (in file access mode) REQUIRES exclusive access to the user mail dir. (with warnings of dire consequences [:O] )

For IMAP connections, mailbox.lck is created in the users mail dir to indicate an active connection, however I do not know how/if this is used with Pegasus in file mode.

I am having an issue when trying to connect using IMAP.  If the pegasus client is open imap connections are unable to complete connection.  I have tried connecting via telnet port 143 when pegasus client is open and am unable to complete connection, if pegasus client is closed telnet works fine and imap connections are ok.

The configuartion is mercury running putting data to a novell server, with pegasus running in novell mode pull from file server (netware 5.1)   The imap is for an outside source (blackberry)

thanks

It is not possible to make an IMAP connection to a mailbox which is opened locally by Pegasus, this is because of the LCK file which is created when you make a connection to a mailbox either locally using Pegasus or for that matter remotely using IMAP.   For the same reason its only possible to make one IMAP connection at a time to a given mailbox.

I believe this is by design to prevent different users from  trying to edit the same mail objects at the same time.

 Does this Answer your question?
