Folder sort order not being retained

Well, that's part of the weirdness - Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. The only time I manually change the sort order is when it gets set other than reverse by date. I looked and "Remember and apply each folder's sorting mode separately" was unchecked, so I enabled it. I always exit properly, etc., so I'll see what different that changes makes.

Thanks.

A few weeks ago I asked how to alway make my New Mail folder sort by date, reversed (without putting new mail at the top) but was told (IIRC) it basically couldn't be done. However, I have other 'ordinary' user-created folders that despite setting with a given sort preference, often seem to ignore it. For example, I have rules that filter emails from various Yahoo groups into individual folders. I have those folders set to sort messages old to new, and not to put new messages at the top of the list. However, several folders quite often (but not always) seem to ignore these settings and I have to re-specify them often after retrieving mail.

Any ideas on how to get these settings to stick?

Thanks.

I've never _observed_ this behaviour, and the quick tests I just did kept the sort order just fine. Are you sure you're not manually changing the sort order so PMail changes how it remembers your last setting? Are you properly exiting PMail so it can properly update it's config files? You might also want to go into Settings, "Incoming Mail", "Preview Mode Settings", and checkmark/enable the option to "Remember and apply each folder's sorting mode separately" to see if maybe something you're doing (like checking new mail) is changing the global sort setting and affecting all other folders.

HTH and merry Christmas!
