Server does not accept internet mail (drops connection)
Hi,

First get an account at rollernet. Next set up your DNS addresses like:

incoming                     destination
mymailserver.domain   rollernet.us         MX-record
mymailserver.domain   xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx A-record

At rollernet you can use "IP Address Helper" option to setup the IP-adres for your mailserver (mymailserver.domain), it is also for dynamic ip. Here you also state what port number the server is using (2525 or 26 or whatever).

Then in MercuryS set the server to listen to additional port 2525 or 26 or whatever.

Disable all mailfiltering on your server, cause rollernet does not like it if you bounce messages. Rollernet has a good enough filter, so use that one for the fight against spam.

For outgoing mail, use your profider or upgrade your account at Rollernet to allow outgoing mail. I did that too.

Hope this helps.

Sorry.. idont understand your reply. I only have free account at rollernet.us, so the IP ADDRESS HELPER is disable. Where sould i put the dns dressess you gave me? I have a NO-IP account, where i use logeek.no-ip.org to enter to my dynamic IP, there i can setup a MX record, i think that there i must enter some entries. It is like this: MX Record and MX Priority ("Enter the name of your external mail exchangers (mx records) as hostnames not IP addresses.").

Could you send me a mini-tutorial with all the steps (no-ip, Mercury and rollernet) y must follow to configure that?.. Thank you for your time!

Remember that you can contact me on el_platense@hotmail.com, MSN and EMAIL. Thank you again!

Hi all,

I am recently using an external DNS. I have a valid domain and IP-address to which I forward mail.
When I send email from an external address, I can see in the logging of MercuryS that there is a
brief connection but then it is dropped:

T 20080101 225433 477ac2a9 Connection from 81.255.72.210
T 20080101 225433 477ac2a9 Connection closed with 81.255.72.210, 0 sec. elapsed.

So my conclusion is that the outside world can find me, but MercuryS drops or does not answer back.

In the local domains (in General) I have added 3 lines:
mail  mail
mail  mail.mydoaminname.nl
mail.mydoaminname.nl   [dns.ip.addr.8]

In Mercury SMTP I have:
Announce myself as mail.mydomainname.nl
Also all checkboxes are on.

I have tried to place the server in DMZ, but did not resolve the issue.

Outgoing mail is done by relaying to ISP.

Please help....it should be simple....but I am missing something.

Turn on session logging in MercuryS an see exactly what's happening.  After to do this post the session log to the thread and maybe we'll be able to help,  Also provde real data here about yuor domain and IP address so we'll be able to test it from the outside world.

This looks like a bot checking for the existance of an SMTP server then immediately disconnecting.

Hi All,

I solved the issue. Sorry to bother you, but it seemed that my provider blocks SMTP (port 25) !!!

In this case my the server could not receive an answer from my server.

Soution:
I created a free account at rollernet.us and diverted port 25 to 26, now I am receiving email.

Thanks for your time,

Andy
Hi, i am contacting you because i need your help. I have an own web server but my ISP blocks the port 25 too, so, i read that RollerNet allows you to redirect SMTP port to anotherone. How can i do that?.. I have dinamic IP adress, so i use NO-IP to enter to my site. The domain is logeek.no-ip.org pointing to my dinamic IP. Then i use EveryDNS to rename logeek.no-ip.org to www.logeeksite.com.ar . In EveryDNS i setup a CNAME from logeek.no-ip.org to www.logeeksite.com.ar So, i can enter to my own webserver through both domains. But i cant configure the webserver. I use XAMPP, and it comes with Mercury Web Server. If you know how configure that, you`ll be so helpfull. Thank you! If you want, you canadd me to your MSN Messenger, myemail adress is el_platense@hotmail.com

Don't you really mean "Disable all mail server functions that reject mail when received by MercuryS"  There is a lot of mail filtering that does not bounce mail back to the sending system.
