This has been happening for a while (at least a few months), but I haven't had a really rough time because of it until recently (received a flurry of messages that made this issue quite unbearable). Basically, it appears that the headers are so complicated that Pegasus gives up the ghost and just slaps "Unknown" in the From and "(None)" in the subject of the message reader. The date also comes through empty at times and, finally and probably most importantly, a good portion of the header finds its way into the beginning of the message itself, making it very difficult to even figure out what the email is about - because one must literally page down 3 times or more before the real message begins to show up.
My suspicion is that the headers are just too long and there is nothing that can be done.
But there is a small portion of an optimist left in me that hopes this is something others have seen and that a quick configuration change of some sort will allow Pegasus to reliably establish the From/Subject/Message Body portions of the email.
I have tried upping the "Lines to process" when looking for attachments. This doesn't really do anything (and I didn't expect it to).
I wish it were 100% consistent, but it isn't. Yahoo! is much better than Google in this regard as the number of messages which appear in this fashion from Yahoo! is 1/10th the frequency of those that come from Google.
Here is an example .cnm file (I've changed the identifying information of the people and computers and group, etc). Perhaps somebody can spot something. This one is from Google. [Note: for some reason, after saving the offending message to a textfile, if I put the copy back into my pmail\mail\username directory, it will show up in the new mail listing, but the From will invariably be the extension (.cnm) rather than Unknown. No idea why.

Obviously, Art has a pre-historic auto-responder that does not
register previously received email addresses and suppress additional
notices to same. Since the Google list-serve is set to send out a
message to Art each time a message is received (including when a
message is sent FROM Art) we are quite lucky that google
automagically figured out that Art's messages were being sent by an
auto-responder and cut off Art's access to the list serve by itself.
Yes, it took about 30 of the messages before google figured it out,
but that is a whole lot better than getting, say, 10,000 messages
each (which is something that I forced upon Jane once a few months
ago when our website was misconfigured, but I digress).
I don't know when Google will relent and allow Art to gain access
again. I know I couldn't override the status (not that I really
wanted to all that much). So I suppose Art will just have to ask for
redemption in his prayers and hope that Google hears them.
Until then, I have set Art's account such that even if Google
relents, he will no longer have automatic posting rights. Instead,
his messages will go into a queue and be sent to the rest of us only
after being approved by a moderator (I think that the moderators are
me and Jane). I don't know whether the messages that are queued for
moderation are sent to the moderators automatically or not. I
suppose Jane and I will find out.
Art, I have NOT eliminated your ability to access the group online.
Hence, if you want to post a message directly and immediately, I
believe you CAN do so by going to groups.google.com, signing in and
using the web-based system for sending a message. I didn't change
the system's settings as far as your RECEIPT of messages, either.
Hence, if Google merely kills your ability to post, you should still
get them. On the other hand, if Google eliminates your ability to
receive as well as your ability to send once it determines that an
auto-responder is in place, it may have cut you off from receiving
messages. If so, you will be forced into reading messages by going
to the website.
