Hi..

I am currently stuck with Mercury32 not working with the dnsbl.
Mercury32, Bind and wrbldnsd all running on same machine with single IP with firewall off.

A) I have installed wrbldnsd to listen to port 54. ie 192.168.10.10/54.
 Update xbl, pbl and sbl were successful.

B) I have install Bind on the same machine with the named.conf as follows:

options {
 Directory "C:\windows\system32\dns\etc";
};

zone "dnsbl" {
        type forward;
        forward only;
        forwarders {
                192.168.10.10 port 54;
        };
};

C) When I try dig I get.

dig A 2.0.0.127.sbl.dnsbl
;; ANSWER SECTION:
2.0.0.127.sbl.dnsbl.    300     IN      A       127.0.0.2

dig A 2.0.0.127.zen.dnsbl
;; ANSWER SECTION:
2.0.0.127.zen.dnsbl.    300     IN      A       127.0.0.2
2.0.0.127.zen.dnsbl.    300     IN      A       127.0.0.4
2.0.0.127.zen.dnsbl.    300     IN      A       127.0.0.10

I get 3 answers with zen.. dunno why.

D) Under MercuryS->SpamControl, I created a new blacklist entry "Spamhaus" with hostname "zen.dnsbl".
 Testing using nelson-sbl-test@crynwr.com email fails.

Tried looking the the MercuryS logfiles but not too helpful.
Any pointers on this... please?
Kenny

Can you get it working when querying Spamhaus direct?

Can you get it working when querying Spamhaus direct?

Initially it worked. But I think they blocked my ip due to high traffic.

Now I am evaluating the 30 days trial data feed.

I have managed to get it working. This is what I did.

1) Install fresh mercury32 on a new dir.

2) Manually copy the usermail folders.

3) Config the spamhaus filter to query zen.dnsbl -> still not working.

4) Change local networking setting to add 127.0.0.1 dns enry. Restart mercury -> WORKING!

5) Try running the previous installation of mercury32 with same spamhaus filter settings -> not working - duh!

6) Change back to new mer32 installation. Working but mystery not totally solved.
