You need to find out why that mail is looping and fix it.

Check the [Domains] section of mercury.ini

Also check your alias's and any forward files for errors / loops.

More specific info about your problem would help.

Recheck the setup of your clamav & especially greywall (this blocking your postmaster address is a prime suspect)

Where are they addressed to & what has triggered them?

A copy of one of the messages and some info about your setup would help.

   To: postmaster (local) -OK

Mail Delivery System <> - Notification discarded - potential loop.

i believe it was an error report for some mails, that contains an invalid  from adress

but after few hours i get a mail from postmaster whithout any problems and i have disable the scanning/touch function for local mails in clamwall

You should include the headers (raw view) as it would show a lot more relevant info, such as the sending & receiving server trail.

How do you recieve mail, smtp or pop pickup? I guess SMTP if you use greywall [:)]

How do you deal with mail to invalid users, smtp reject or bounce? I'm guessing bounce.

Are you radioeisbaer.com? I assume yes.

Where did the <%MF%> address originate?  This invalid address appears to be the main problem.

This looks like your server is rejecting your bounce to the invalid address. As this failed message came from postmaster@yourdomain, your postmaster is informing itself that its message delivery failed (which IS a potential loop and should be killed).

Ya i'm recieve it by smtp and what you mean with smtp bouncing ?

the problem is, that mercury accept mails from invalid from-adresses but it arrive inly to local sender adresseses for example from radioeisbaer.com (i'm using more domains with the global mercury mailserver)

how i can disable accepting mails from invalid adresses??

i have already deleted the mails so i'm waiting for the next mail.

In MercuryS config, General tab, have "Accept mail for invalid local addresses" NOT Ticked.

This gives the "User not known" reply in the SMTP transaction, so the mail is NOT received and the Core Process does NOT have to generate a reply email (DSN) that says "user not known".

This means the senders server reports to the failure to them, and reduces "backscatter" from your server (useless DSN messages to faked addresses).

In Mercury Core config, first tab, have "Suppress validation of from address" NOT Ticked.

You need to find out what caused the original bounce message. Have a look in your logs and try to find out.

Search for the <%MF%> address to see where it came from and why it got bounced.

Once you understand what is happening, you will have a much better chance of fixing it [:)]
