Hi

Solved the problem, Mcafee was seeing Mercury as a mass mailer and had the port blocked.

Thanks for you help.

Hi

Ive just installed ver4.52 on an XP server (which I use as a Proxy server). Every thing runs well other than I cant send as I get the error "error ff servicing queue job". I took the smtp address I used and put it into an Outlook mail client on the same machine and I have no problem. Why does Mercury have a problem?

Im using MercuryC when I get this error. If I use E I get connection error and then connection error on alternate?

Regards

Have you told mercC where to send the mail?

You will need to enter the servername & account details for your ISP's SMTP server.

These will be the same as the settings in your Outlook client.

For mercE you need to enter a DNS server address in the config.

If you are on a dynamic IP I would suggest using mercC, as direct mailing from dynamic ranges is blocked by quite a few places.

Hi

Yes in C Ive tried to send with and without a logon and password, same problem. If I use E everything is displayed as being processed but thats as far as it gets. If I send a bogus mail with my correct domain name it goes but Im not sure if its not seeing the address as "local".

Turn on session logging in MercuryC (or MercuryE) and post the results here.  You should munge a password but do not munge anything else.

The server is aborting the connection, it is not timing out.  This type of error happens when you are connecting to a host that does not have port 25 open.  This server does respond to a connection to port 25 so I suspect the proxy.  Can you bypass the proxy?

The problem is that Mercury/32 is not getting to the server.  This is not a Mercury/32 problem, this is a problem where Mercury/32 is being blocked.  Your system is setup to connect to the correct server but you cannot make a TCP/IP connection to port 25 of that server.  Now I guess it's always possible your ISP is blocking port 25.  What happen when you try to telnet into port 25 of of these servers?

Looks like your`re right. Strange thing is if I use another machine on my network I connect so the problem is on my mail server.
