I'm still very new to the mercury servers and pmail and the guy who administered them previously is no longer around to help. The past couple weeks I have had a recurring problem with one of the servers, every morning I get about 50 to 200 or so emails that are unable to send and are stuck in the "pending" status. My mercury setup has 2 servers which pull email and sync with different novell servers, the one server has the problem every morning, the other never has it.
What I've been doing to fix this is rebooting the server and restarting the mercury SMTP service. Then slowly the emails start sending out correctly. As much as I love this daily task, it would be much more benificial to prevent it from happening in the first place. I don't know what information you would like to help understand what is going on, so I'll just mention a few things here now and if you let me know what else would help I'll post that later as well.
Basic Problem:
-Every morning mail is stuck in the "pending" status
-In the system messages I typically get an error message saying something along the lines of "Core: File creation error delivering to 'server/username'."
-After checking that user in they have a mailbox and it is not full
-The user always changes and other emails will go through to it
-In my c:\program files\mercury\smtp\ directory I find the "pending" emails with the .QDF and .QCF extensions. I also find many files with the .QIF extension.
-While there are messages "pending" there are still others going through without a problem.
-These are usually all internal emails as well
I doubt that is enough information for you, but I don't know what else to put.. Please help if you can...
Thanks!
