It worked as you predicted, Thomas.  One wonders how those files slipped up there.  Thanks a million..

I installed a new computer using the old computer hard drive as a slave. Is there any way of accessing the pmail on the old drive. When I try to open the

program (winpm-32.exe V4.4) it askes me for a password.

Any suggestions?

Go to the Winpm-32.exe directory and run PCONFIG.exe.  Go to the Standalone Configuration and reset the drive letter of the HOME and NEW mail directory to match it's current drive letter assignment.

I doubt my problem is identical.  I recently installed v4.41 following a catastrophic lost of an earlier (quite recent) version of Winpm-32 .  The new version works nicely, but I can't find my old file/folders.  I think they're there in /PMAIL, because I can see some old msgs using MyComputer and Notepad. These btw, are FOL#####.PMM.  I'd like to get those old folders back, especially the Addresses.

Thanks...~jess

It's similar though.  Look for the directory containing the PMM, PMI and PMR files that is not the same as your HOME mail directory you get when you use Help | About Pegasus Mail Info.  You can exit WinPMail and move all the files and folders EXCEPT pmail.ini, state.pmj and hierarch.pm from mthe other directory to your home mail directory.  The next time yuo run WinPMail is should finad all the files and folder incliding those addressbooks.

Thomas, just to make sure------Help-Info says my Home mailbox is C:\PMAIL\MAIL\Admin

I'm finding the old addresses, eg, ADDR1C84.PMR, in C:\PMAIL\MAIL, i.e., not in \Admin

I'm finding msgs there too, e.g., FOL00379.PMM, not in the \Admin subfolder

Nowhere else have I found PMM, PMI, and PMR files, except for those in \PMAIL_old

Of course, there are the copyself, junk and main files in the \DEFAULT sub-directories, in \PMAIL and \PMAIL_old.

Should I take all files found in, for example, \PMAIL\MAIN and move them to \PMAIL\MAIN\Admin?

And, in any case, should I do the same with the files in \PMAIL_old?

I don't want to create chaos because I misunderstood.

thanks...~jess

You can move all of the files but pmail.ini, pmail.usr, hierarch.pm, state.pmj, desktop.pm* and folstate.pm  from the \pmail\mail to the pmail\mail\admin when WinPMail is not running.  When you next run WinPMail it should find all the mail folders address books, etc.  You can also do the same for pmail_old if these are really different files and folders.
