Re-installing PM after OS re-install.

[quote user="Zagra"]Sorry, didn't make myself clear. The folders were backed-up on another drive before I re-installed the OS. But I have solved the problem by transferring the backed-up address folders to the working MAIL folder.

Verify this by using Help | About Pegasus Mail | Info.  Also, if you moved all of the files, including the pmail.cfg, then you may be pointing at the wrong drive/directory.  Use pconfig.exe from the program directory to verify.

OS: win2kSP4 RU1, PM v4.41. All Data and Applications are kept on separate  logical drives - drive c: is OS only.

I recencently had an 'unknown hardware error' that triggered a CHKDSK on each re-boot, the PC then restarted normally. The only answer, I felt, was to format drive c: and reload the OS. The problem persisted with 'unknown hardware error' but I was able to backup all data and the PMAIL\ADMIN folder. Then came the ubiquitous BSOD, even in 'Safe Mode'. This meant I could not access the PC, so a second re-boot and OS re-install was carried out with all peripherals removed. (The fault was eventally traced to a faulty floppy drive).

When I tried to re-install PM, I got a request for a 'User Name'. I tried all my identities and 'Admin' to no avail. I then decided to delete the PMAIL folder completely and begin afresh which worked ok. I transferred my saved ADMIN data to the new ADMIN file but the new install does not recognise the old mail folders from the saved ADMIN file or PMAIL.INI. Is there a solution to this? Are there any other user settings in files other than PMAIL.INI?

Yes, run pconfig.exe in the program directory and checkout the Standalone Home and New mail directory spec.  Make sure the paths and drive letter is valid.

Thanks for the reply. The paths are set ok. But I managed to figure it out by copying all the folder info from the ADMIN folder to the Mail Folder. That part works ok. But what is the name for the address folder? The folder is saved on a separate disk and I need to know what it is called.

Thanks in advance.

Huh?  If the home and new mail directories are on a separate disk drive then use that disk drive.
