Yes I can......

I drew some patience with the update to bearhtml... but had some 7 crashes yesterday... mind you all in preview mode... but annoying all the same.

Thanks

MJacobs

Since this thread now qualifies as "The post with the most views is "version 5.0"", perhaps it also qualifies for a guesstimate from David Harris of the predicted release date for Pegasus Versioni 5.0. response?

Why, if he provides the estimate all that will happen is it will probably be missed and then there will be a lot of people asking why it was missed.  Currently the closed Visual C++ beta is at v4.50 VC14 and it still has some things that need to be fixed before it hits the street.  FWIW, it's got to be a couple months off since we've not even seen a release candidate as yet.

FWIW, almost all of the changes are under the hood, it will not look a whole lot different than v4.41.

I'd be happier with 20 tweaks a year vs. a major overhaul every two.

It would be great to get past the bad spam message that crashes Peg, or the can not parse an E-mail address dialog box...

If you are having spam crash the program then I'd recommend upgrading BearHTML and not WinPMail.

O.K. Did the bearhtml upgrade, let's see how that responds.

Thanks

Did the BearHTML upgrade, Pegasus crashed on two of the first three spam messages received.. or seemed to slow down the opening of the file....

but overall it's an improvement over what I was getting, but it's still early....

Now, if I can get past this Parser Error dialog box when it comes to goofy E-mail addresses I'll be slightly better off with Version 4.41

Could you send me zipped up versions of the messages that you say crash Pegasus Mail please?  Please mail to irelam@telus.net

As programmers have to tidy their code every day, it sometimes is necessary to do a "lens" shift. This means that David takes his time to do the best job, which is not loosing any performance or features when shifting the entire code base from older compiler technology (Borland -> Inprise -> Borland -> CodeGear brand).

When the initial 5.0 release is made, I'm sure we'll see more releases more frequently.

Well, I remember that, a couple of years ago, David said he wanted to have more frequent minor updates.

This would at least make some action happen and renew the attention span of users.

I know David is working hard, don't get me wrong!

But with so few new releases, people forget about Pegasus and think it's stalling.

Best regards,

François

I totally agree with you, more frequent updates are necessary to let the users know

that Pegasus is still alive and under active development.

Agree with you both. 4.50 vc14 build was released to the testers on march 4th. Since then only the pmail testers mailing list contains a lot of mails about issues. At the same time David has managed to release two betas and create an IMAP test program, and we've had easter ... My personal guess is that we will see a release of Mercury/32 v4.61 within the fortnight, and then nearly all attention is most likely spent on getting Pegasus Mail v5 out the door as soon as David can.
