Upgrade immediately, there is a major flaw in MercuryS that can allow hackers to take over the system.  Mercury/32 v4.52 corrects this.  The upgrade will only take a couple of minutes depending on how long it takes to download.

Hello all.

I guess that the statement in the subject is true, because that is what horde mail reports when trying to enter greek in an imap folder's name. Can greek be allowed in a future mercury version please?

this rfc is about that ability in IMAP: http://rfc-ref.org/RFC-TEXTS/3501/chapter5.html#sub1sub3

Thanks in advance,

Antonis Plevrakis,
Crete Greece.

You cannot have 8-bit character names in a folder but I thought with Mercury/32 v4.52 you could use UTF-8 encoding to create a 7-bit name with the encoded characters.  This assumes that the character set you are using on your system supports those characters.

Thanks for your answer. You mean there is a setting in Mercury I should search for?

Thanks, Antonis.

You should set the "Default charset for folder names" The ISO-8859-1 or -15 do not have most of the Greek characters.

IMAP provides a mechanism for creating folders that contain accented (international) characters. MercuryI supports this, but needs to know what character set it should assume when processing the IMAP names. The usual default on English language and Western European copies of Windows is ISO-8859-15, but if you live in parts of Eastern Europe, you may prefer to use ISO-8859-2 or CP1250. Note that the requirement for a default character set is a short-term measure only - future versions of Mercury will be able to handle a much wider range of character sets, and to do so automatically.
