Using Pegasus Mail from a removable drive, need relational drive references

BIG HUGS FOR YOU!  Funny how if you never use something you forget that it is even there.  Thanks. I suppose I should go back and "fix" the pconfig file ...

Um ....not getting it to work ... does Pegasus Mail need to be on the root of the removable drive?  Here is the current location of mine:

F:\_stored\PMail\Programs\winpm-32.exe

Tried it both leaving the config file ..\mail\~8 and editing back to the original c:\pmail\mail\~8

I'll look to see if I need to use some other command line options as well.

My laptop melted down, so I was forced to move my pmail directory system onto a portable drive.  Since Pegasus Mail is one of a few that do not need "installed" into the Windows registry to work (thank you David) I was able to access my mail from the portable drive by running pconfig and setting the mailbox path to ..\MAIL\~8 that works except for the folder close filters I have created for folders other than the inbox (folder close is running fine on the inbox)

So, can you think of a way off hand to tweak this so that no matter what the drive the program is run from it assumes the mail folder is in a relational location rather than a specific one? Perhaps something like a variable %foldvar%/mail/user or similar. I realize that using .. in the pconfig is not a stable or graceful way to do this, but it works for now.  A solution I have  used in the past was to tell the program in set up to use something like "M:" as the mail directory and then mapped the mail storage to that location.  I could do this again, but it would mean that I need to map a new drive when I switch to my reserve laptop and then to my husband's laptop when we're on the road later this month.  I much prefer not to copy the directory as it is nearly 1gb until I get my good laptop back from repair.  Along these same lines, if the mail store location could be made dynamic or relational, that would open the program to being used from a thumb drive or similar portable storage.

 Thanks in advance

That is what the -ROAM option is designed to accomplish.

-ROAM

This option tells Pegasus Mail that it should ignore the configured drive letter when locating user mailboxes and mail files, and should instead use the drive letter of the drive from which WINPM-32.EXE was run. If Pegasus Mail and your mailbox directories are located on the same physical drive, you should always use this option. -ROAM greatly simplifies running the program on Peer-to-Peer and non-NetWare networks, because it allows the same copy of the program to be run no matter what drive letter mappings exist on the particular workstation where it runs. This switch also allows you to install a complete, working copy of Pegasus Mail, complete with mailboxes, onto a memory stick, and to use that memory stick in any computer where it is subsequently plugged. You must not use this switch if Pegasus Mail and your mailbox directories cannot be accessed using the same drive letter. This switch is ignored and has no effect in either Novell NetWare operating mode.
