Can't Send Mail Out

Thomas,

Wonderful - it works - thank you very much.

Thomas,

Wonderful - it works - thank you very much.

I am anew user of Pegasus, and am running Windows XP2, using GMX email...I also run Outlook and Thunderbird, as well.

I can download mail with no issues, but cannot send out anything - keeps coming back as a delivery failure with the following message:

"Delivery has failed on the enclosed message for the following
reasons reported either by the mail delivery system on the mail
relay host or by the local TCP/IP transport module:

550 5.7.0 Need to authenticate via SMTP-AUTH-Login {mp-us005}"

Can anyone help me decipher this and explain how to fix this? Is it Pegasus or GMX causing the issues?

I appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks, in advance.

David Harris has implemented ESMTP AUTH CRAM-MD5 for WinPMail, Mercury and Mercury/32. They do a SMTP authentication in accordance with RFCs 2554 and 2195. Mercury and Mercury/32 also do the LOGIN and the strange MS AUTH=LOGIN.

Go to File | Network configuration | (Sending) SMTP, edit the SMTP setup, select the "Security" tab and select one of the 3 options for doing SMTP Authorization.
