It would be useful to tell if the message is badly formatted.

I've posted before about how SOME messages from google groups arrive in a corrupted state.  This is NOT that issue.

Here, email is sometimes received with the body being a block of gibberish, something like....

RmluZSB3aXRoIG1lDQpTZW50IGZyb20gbXkgQmxhY2tiZXJyeSBoYW5kaGVsZC4NCg0KLS0tLS1P
cmlnaW5hbCBNZXNzYWdlLS0tLS0NCkZyb206IGNvcGFib2RAZ29vZ2xlZ3JvdXBzLmNvbSA8Y29w
YWJvZEBnb29nbGVncm91cHMuY29tPg0KVG86IGNvcGFib2RAZ29vZ2xlZ3JvdXBzLmNvbSA8Y29w
YWJvZEBnb29nbGVncm91cHMuY29tPg0KU2VudDogVHVlIEFwciAxNSAxNzoxMDo0NiAyMDA4DQpT
dWJqZWN0OiBbQ09QQUJPRF0gUmU6IExldHRlciBvZiBJbnRlbnQNCg0KUmljaywgSSBnb3QgYm90

and more...in the message I'm looking at right now, the block contains about 3000 characters.

Evidently, google knows what the above means (although I can't find anything in the headers that indicates a translation or a key), because the message prints out fine when viewing it online.  It starts with:

Fine with me

Sent from my Blackberry handheld.

and then there are about 2000 characters in the body of the response.

The problem isn't that the above is translated by google.  The problem is that when google is set to automatically copy and send messages to registered email addresses, what arrives is the raw message and pegasus can't make sense of it.

Is this some grand conspiracy between blackberry and google to take over the world? <smile>

Mike

This looks like the message headers are messed up and the base64 encoded attachment/enclosure/inline graphic are not working as specified.  FWIW, all e-mail sent from this forum looks similar in the raw view.  I'm not sure who's to blame but based on what I've seen in the past I'd blame blackberry.

So, what you are saying is that even though Blackberry is at fault, Google is smart enough to untangle whatever Blackberry has done to mess up the message?  Any chance we can get Pegasus to do the same?

Or, in the alternative, I'll write a program to do it, if I can figure out what the issue is.  Do your emails from this forum arrive in a readable state?

Here is the first few lines from an email as it appears after receipt (not a raw view, but what shows in the 3 pane view as the message body):

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

Does that give a clue?  Would the raw view help?

Thanks

Well, it appears that the problem is with the Xpmflags line.  Does anybody know what that first number represents?  For that matter, what the specification is for the entire line?

 Thanks
