Pop3 Rule Set

Paul

Thanks for your patience.

Your explanation above did the trick. I experimented with "leave on server" option. Then tried "delete message on server" and now have the rule set doing what I wanted.

Much appreciated.

I am beginning to get to grips with a Pop3 Rule set.
As an experiment I made the 1st rule:-

Headers T contains 'tony@barcs.clara.net' download message

2nd rule:-

Headers NOT T is 'tony@barcs.clara.net' leave message on server

I checked the message server via webmail before collection the mail via Pegasus, there were 69 messages. Pegasus collected all the messages, even though about a 3rd of them had something other than tony in front of the barcs.clara.net.

I would have thought the third "non tony" messages should have stayed on the server.

Have I misunderstood how this works? Suggestion welcome!

What have you set as the 'Default action' on the Download controls tab?  It seems as though this is set to download messages.

Thanks for the swift response.

Sorry to be slow on this but where is the "Download controls tab"?

If I do Tools/Mail filtering rules/Create/edit POP3 rule set I can open the simple rule set I described above but I don't see a "Download controls tab", just the Action column of the rule set where I have chosen "leave message on server" for the 2nd rule.

I have also had a hunt around the Tools/Options/Incoming Mail without locating a "Download controls tab".

This did set me thinking though and whilst I have set up the simple 2 rule set I just assumed Pegasus would use that set without further instructions. Do I have to "turn on" the set?

Also if I should set up another rule set how do I swap between the two, or do they both run, one after the other?

It's on the POP3 definition - Tools:Internet options:Receiving (POP3) then select & click 'Edit' (or double-click the host), and you get the details of that connection. 'Download controls' is the 3rd tab.

Yes, same tab as above: just select your ruleset.

Only one ruleset can be specified per definition, but you could create another definition and select that as needed.
