can spamhalter be upgraded in Pegasus 4.41 win32 version?

I had renamed the original version of wi_sph.dll to wi_sph.dll.old and replaced it with wi_sph.dll from the zipped update, Explorer shows 1.1.0.160 as the version number for the latter file. Looking back the only slightly odd thing during the process was that Explorer changed the capitalization of the file from WI_sph.dll to wi_sph.dll but I assumed that wouldn't make any difference. I'm not sure where Pegasus got the old version number from once the files had been replaced with the newer versions - perhaps I should have deleted the old files completely rather than just changing their extensions?

If you go to the Downloads section of this site, there is a minor upgrade to v1.1 under Add-ons for Pegasus Mail.  That's the latest version for the current 4.41 release.

Can I check the upgrade procedure for this add-on? I've downloaded and replaced the files in question yet Spamhalter still reports the old version number. Have I missed something? Many thanks in advance!

What version number is reported on the 'About Spamhalter' window?

Was Pegasus mail running when you updated?

It was something like 1.0.0.15 both before and after (afraid I can't check the exact number right now).

No, Pegasus was not running, I had closed down, renamed the old files (with a .old extension), copied over the updated files and restarted.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Spamhalter 1.0 is the one distributed with the 4.41 install, and 1.1 is the one available on this site.

If you haven't got it into your Pegasus Mail program directory, perhaps there's a permissions problem - do you have full rights to that area?  Are you on Vista?

Do a full search for wi_sph.dll and check where it is.

I have tested wi_sph_1.1.0.160.zip, but in unfortunatelly crashes when a new Email arives.

Beware this release, archive original dlls. Replacing dlls is a sufficient operation to recover previous state.

I have reported this crash to ararat@ararat.cz Sat, 02 Feb 2008 14:55:16 +0100

@PaulW - I can confirm now that the (old) version is reported as 1.0.0.151 which I presume is indeed that which came with the 4.41 install. The updated files were copied over successfully to the program directory in question, to which I have full rights. I'm on Windows 2000 Server.

@fojtik - Thanks for the warning, I'll hold off further attempts to upgrade for the time being.

Are you sure there's only one copy of wi_sph.dll ?  The version here reports itself as 1.1, so if your copy shows 1.0, there is something wrong with your installation.  What does explorer show?
