Preview lost on one folder only

Do you have your anti-virus software scanning the mail directories?  This sounds like a anti-virus scan of a PMM folder found what it though was a virus in a message in the folder and so removed the whole folder.

Overnight, one folder only (out of 11) under My Mailbox suddenly lost its Preview.  Mail is there, but no preview of contents. Right-clicking on a message and Message Headers are also empty. This folder had been working properly for 4 months, since its creation. All other Pegasus folders work properly.  Computer was not turned off, all other computer functions seem normal.  Ver 4.41, Windows XP Pro.  Any clues?  Thank you in advance.

Not sure what's happening , I've never seen this.  What happens when you try to open a messsage in the folder in the reader?

Opening a message, it's empty.  Tried copying a message from this folder to another "good" folder, it's empty; all other messages in that folder are OK.  Tried bringing a newly received message into the problem folder, it shows Preview and is okay, while all other messages in the "bad" folder still have no preview.

The bar on the pane shows: From: ???  To: ???

Index maybe?  Try re-indexing the folder to see what happens.  Also the PMM/PMI files may have gotten marked read only or some other application has them open.  Have you tried re-booting?  Is yuo anti-virus software checking the mail directories?

I reinexed the folder; ALL messages in that folder are now totally deleted.

This says to me the index was showing mail in the folder that did not exist.  The re-index takes the PMM file (data) and reads it to re-build the PMI file (index).  What is displayed in the folder listing though is the info in the index.

The index might have been showing mail that did not exist, but it did exist until last night.  This folder contained customer e-mails received since Jan '08 to current.  Fortunately, they had all been responded to except the last few received on Sunday, so these are lost forever.

In the future, I'm going to make copies of each e-mail received and save them in another folder, in case this happens again. BTW,  where would I find the file(s) that contains all the folders (containing the e-mails received) which I created under My Mailbox? I've found the main folder for each of my 3 User Names, so it must be in there, but under what name?; nothing shows the Folder Names that I created.

Thank you very much for your help.
