Deleted messages remain (edited version)

Hello all.

I have corrected this problem by (1) uninstalling PMAIL from Vista (This included removal though Programs and Features (Control Panel) which removed it from my user subdirectories, and manually deleting the PMAIL folder in Program Files) and (2) following the instructions in Moving your mailbox to another PC from the PMail Knowledge Base.  In retrospect I think my mistake was to allow the new version of PMAIL to install into \Program Files and then try to add the folder structures, etc. I could have copied the old version from my previous PC into a data directory on the new computer, as instructed in Moving your mailbox  and then updated to 4.41 in place.

The critical piece of missing info was that PMAIL does not install into the registry.  When Peter S supplied that bit of info I was able to figure out the rest of it. Thanks, Peter

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum, so please guide me if this question is misplaced, etc. My problem is that when I delete some messages in the new mail folder, the message moves to the deleted mail folder, but also remains  in the new mail folder. (This does not happen with all messages deleted from the new mail folder.) This problem occurs when I run PMAIL "as administrator."  It it happens once, it will happen each time I try to delete that message from the new mail folder.

Background:  I recently downloaded and installed PMAIL 4.41 (July, 2006) into Windows Vista Home Premium. Then, I copied all of the configuration files, folders, data, etc. into the \program files\pmail\mail\admin\ directory.  Everything seemed OK. When I checked the new mail filtering rules I discovered that the junk mail folder was not recognized as the target of a move command in the rules. (The delete command as a target was not changed) I used notepad to edit winrules.pmc and then all the folder target seemed to be well resolved.(This was somewhat complicated by the way Vista handles program files, and I actually edited the winrules.pmc copy in my user account Virtual store.

I'd like to know a fix for this problem, and any other info about running pmail under Vista. Moving mail between folders does not work at all if I try to run PMAIL "not as administrator." I do have the announcement from David Harris dated Jan 3'd 2007.

A related question in a second post has been answered.
