Creating Multiple POP Accounts - How To??

[quote user="klawdek"]

You are probably using multiple accounts.  The new version only allows this if you set it up that way when it is installed (according to the manual) and the default installation is single user only and cannot be changed after installation.

Isn't this a rather old thread? See my reply, and others, in the thread you created 2011-01-26: What happened to the different accounts feature? Identities are not a replacement for it!!!

The help files are very clear:

You have one identity and its POP and SMTP settings. You then create a new, second, identity (it can be based on an old identity, you select, so that you have some settings already arranged as you like). Everything can now be changed in the second identity and stay like that. Obviously it must have its own POP & SMTP settings, e-mail address etc.

Change from the default identity to the second identity, i.e. become it; select Internet Options... Add the address; on POP3 tab click Add then New, and remember to save the definition as something that can be recognised as related to identity B. Repeat for SMTP if necessary.

I have a single user setup, with several identities; it works very well.

I'm new to Pegasus mail and so far I like what I've seen, however, I use two different email accounts, one for my personal use, another for my business/web account.  These accounts require differing configurations for sending/receiving mail, to say different POP and SMTP addresses.  I have searched through the HELP index as well as this forum and cannot find any information on how to achieve this.  I understand that you can use different Identities, but that does not suffice if I can't create totally different accounts to send/receive mail through two different servers.  Is this possible with Pegasus?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Create the two identities.  Become each identity and then change the Tools | Internet options ..  to set the POP3 and SMTP details as required for each account.

Unfortunately the internet options are global.  If you change identities and then change your pop and smtp addresses it will apply to your original default identity as well.  So far the only way I have found to use multiple pop and smtp servers is to manually change the POP and SMTP server info and then all mail from all servers will go to same inbox.

They need to add a feature to allow you to create separate accounts with seperate inbox and POP/SMTP settings.

This is simply not true. I have different identies with different pop en smtp settings.

Cheers!

As I stated before, if you create a new identity change to that identity, then change the POP and SMTP settings and change back to the first identity, the POP and SMTP settings will be changed there as well.  Changes to POP and SMTP settings ARE GLOBAL!

On my computer at home I have a single-user setup with two identities, each with its own pop and smtp settings. On my computer at work I have multiple accounts (two) and one of them has two identies, each with its own pop and smtp settings. I'm sorry if you can't get it to work that way, but on my systems it was a piece of cake (both Win XP SP3, Pmail 4.52).

Cheers!
