Presumably you have a valid email address from some provider (usually an ISP).

Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will also have two addresses which are required for you to connect to their servers to retrieve (Pop3) and send (SMTP) your email.

For example,

    Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com

Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com

So, you need to find out from your ISP.

That means that you have supplied an incorrect username/password for the server that you connected to.

Can you give us more informations, like

    - What's the name of your e-mail provider (Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, ...) ?

    - What server names did you enter ?

Ok, just to get it right, a few more questions

You use hotmail for your e-mails.

As POP3 and SMTP you use the servers of your ISP otenet, right ?

I don't understand that configuration, maybe because I'm not using hotmail ;-)

Do you forward your email from hotmail to your ISP or vice versa ?

Have you an e-mail address like xxxx@otenet.gr ?

AFAIK does Hotmail in the free version not offer an POP3 access.

You entered the Servers of your ISP, so you have to use the username and password

    he provided you.

    Glad to hear that.

Yes, you use now the servers of your ISP for outgoing (SMTP) and incoming (POP3) mail.

Yes, run your own mail server ;-)

or use mail services where you have access to the POP,IMAP and SMTP servers like Google or Yahoo.

To use that with hotmail, you have to pay for it.
