Gentlemen(and ladies)

Please forgive me for what seemingly appears to be constant problems on my end this past year but I have another. My provider is Verizon and my problem is this......I have set up Pegasus via the network configuration and all has been well until last night. I am an email Chairman for an organization and last night sent out  several  items via Pegasus distribution list (each list was less than 90 addresses as Verizon has a max of 100) I might be blocked but don't know.

Today I can receive my mail but cannot send I keep getting a received message saying the following:

Delivery has failed on the enclosed message for the following
reasons reported either by the mail delivery system on the mail
relay host or by the local TCP/IP transport module:

334 535 5.7.8 Authorization failure (Not authorized to login as
   specified user).

When I send messages I get the following on the screen message and wondering if I'm being blocked

[*] Connection established to (I removed)

>> 0107 220 vms044pub.verizon.net -- Server ESMTP (Sun Java System Messaging Server 6.2-6.01 (built Apr  3 2006))

>> 0010 250-ETRN
>> 0019 250-NO-SOLICITING
>> 0019 250 SIZE 20971520
<< 0012 AUTH LOGIN

<< 0022 NDNDaGF1dGF1cXVhNDY=
>> 0078 535 5.7.8 Authorization failure (Not authorized to login as specified user).

Am I being blocked from sending because of last night sends? I'm not fully understanding

Once again I would appreciate help. Than you in advance

This error is being issued by your ISP - you really need to contact them to find out why they aren't accepting your credentials (I assume your password and username are the same as they always have been, and have not suddenly changed for some reason).

Incidentally, you should arrange to change your username and password as soon as you have this issue resolved - it is possible to work out what they are from the session log you have posted (this is one of the reasons why I'm so opposed to weak authenticators like PLAIN and LOGIN).

Cheers!

I've got a similar problem, although with a somewhat different error message. And I'm getting desperate.

Background: my computer crashed last week. I was running Win98; it was older hardware. I've been given a "new" hand-me-down computer, this one somewhat newer. It runs XP.

Most of my old data is okay, although I'm afraid I may have lost a lot of saved email. But I tried re-installing Pegasus. Only thing was, I couldn't remember the old POP and STMP addresses and ports. So I got hold of an Earthlink online rep and asked. He gave me the right POP, but the wrong port number, so nothing happened. Well, the one I'd used before was 110, so I thought maybe he'd typoed when he said "10" and I reset to 110. Presto! I can get mail now.

BUT. The change in port number was much bigger, and I don't recall what my original port number was. So, can anyone help? This is dialup (high speed is not available in this area) and as I said, it's via earthlink.net.

I'm in Arizona, almost the opposite end of the globe from you Kiwis :), so I'm hoping someone can help me soon. I am going crazy here; too much of my daily business and life are conducted via email. Many thanks!!!

Whoops! I almost forgot to give the error message; I'm using the edit feature to add it and I hope it works. It said "15: Peer connect failure (the host has refused the connection)."  I used smtpauth.earthlink.net and port 587, if that's of any use. Again, many many MANY thanks!
