Restore mails for a resticted User account on Windows XP

XP MCE seems to base on the Pro version... I had to change some options for displaying the folders and then the security tab was visible. I changed the rights and Pegasus seems to work propperly on my restricted account now - with my old data!

Many thanks for your quick help!

Hello,

I use Pegasus mail for many years now and I also have transferd my mails, settings and folders without any problems from Win 98 to Win 2000 and also Win XP. I just installed Pegasus in the same folder on the new system and was able to recover all my data.

Unfortunately my system was badly infected by trojans an malware after running a long time propperly, so I had to make a new setup of my whole system.

I also wanted to make my system more secure, so I created an admin account only for intstalling software, and another resticted acount to work with.

My problem now is, that I could recover the mails, folders and settings without any problems in the admin account, but Pegasus doesn't work properly with my old data in my second restricted XP account on my PC. So it would be no problem if pegasus doesn't work on the admin account, but it should work on my second.

I already realised that you can create more users with pegasus, so I tried to create one to work with on my second account. But it wasn't possible too: Only in the XP admin account the second Pegasus account worked properly with the restored data.

So I would be very happy if somebody could help me to restore my old Pegasus Data on the restricted XP account.

Many thanks in advance.

Titus

Make sure that you have the rights to access and modify the Pegasus folders

with the second (restricted) account.

Are you running XP Home or Pro ?

Thanks for the answer. I'm running XP Media Center Edition. Do you know how I can set the right to access and modify the Pegasus folder for the restricted account?

Best,

Titus

I don't know if XP MCE is based on the Home or the Pro version, but you can check that.

Right-click on the Pegasus folder in the explorer and select 'Properties' in the Pop-Up menu.

Now, if you see a tab named 'Security' you can change the user permissions of the folder. Select your user

in the list, then set Read, Write and Modify rights for the user. (You have to do this from your admin account).

If the tab is missing you need an extension like: http://www.fajo.de/portal/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=6

After installing, do the same as decribed above.

Hope this will help you ...
