Problem printing images imbeded in emails. They come out as gray rectangles.

Hi Martin, I forwarded the email to you along with a message but a problem might have occured. I'll forward it again without the message, in case the forwarding didn't get through.

Hi, I am using Pegasus v 4.41 that has bearhtml v2.7.6.0 added. Pegasus renders images embeded in emails properly on the monitor. I'm having trouble printing images imbeded in an email using Pegasus. The printed images come out as a gray rectangle. If I open the email in a browser, the image is properly rendered on the monitor and can also be properly printed from the browser. The problem probably is not caused by bearhtml because if I rename it, prints through Pegasus still come out as gray rectangles.

I think I have some file corruption and wish to start out clean by uninstalling Pegasus, then reinstalling it., I wish to save all my present settings and old emails. What folders and/or files should I save from my present installation before uninstalling Pegasus?

What is the advantage of installing the latest bearhtml to the new installation?

Best regards,

Ben H. Tongue

Use the CTRL+SHIFT+P to printer via BearHTML instead of the built-in TER.

What is the advantage of installing the latest bearhtml to the new installation?

Fewer crashes with displaying the cruddy HTML in email messages with the newer versions for most people.  FWIW, last I heard David Harris was still using the version that comes with the program.  ;-)

When you refer to gray boxes, you are not fetching and displaying remote graphics.  If you only want graphics occasionally, just key in Shift + Ctrl + U to download them.  If you want to always download graphics, go the the Pegasus Mail menu Tools/Options/Incoming Mail/Message Reader and in the "Display remote linked graphics" drop down box, select Automatically.

Once you have downloaded the required graphics, you can use Shift + Ctrl + P to print the page  (see the Bearhtml help file or key in Shift + F1 to get the help file in realtime)

Hi,

Thanks for help in printing.

To print a picture imbeded in an email with text, I left double-click on the email line item in the upper right window of Pegasus v4.41. After that I right click 'Show pictures (HTML only)' and the gray rectangle replaced is replaced with the picture.

I then press Ctrl + Shift + p and get the 'Print' pop-up window with the 'Print Range' choice already made and the 'Pages... From...To' choices grayed out, so I have no ability to select a specific page range to print. If I then click OK on the 'Print' button, the printer prints out the email text along with the picture. A problem is, however, that one particular picture (800x515 pixels) is not resized to fit. A small amount of the right side of the picture is croped. Are these two actions (no 'Print Range' and 'cropping') standard when printing from Pegasus?

Another thing, after printing the email with picture and exiting Pegasus, I find a small box under where pegasus was, labeled 'Error'. The contents of the box is 'Runtime error 216 at 00002E00'. An OK button is provided to dismiss the box.

If I choose to 'open the email in a browser...', click 'File' in the browser and then 'Print...', one can select 'Page Range' and the picture gets resized, so there is no cropping. Exiting Pegasus and the browser reveals no "Error" box.

Sincerely,

Ben H. Tongue

I posted a reply but it disappeared on me.  So here goes again.

There is no concept of "pages" in html. The whole displayed html message appears on page 1.  What you are really talking about is breaking up the "page" into physical printer pages  at some arbitrary points.  A very complex piece of software inside Bearhtml is redrawing the image of the message to fit in the dimensions of your printer. I have no influence on how this redrawing occurs.. I would be happy to get a copy of your message so I can see what is happening. Email it to irelam@telus.net   Thanks.
