configuring mercury

I have news from my Zencart store . Have send en email and changed the FROM area to admin@african...

and I got a message that it send the mail :-) ,however he was not received in my real email account

Was it received via MercuryS? What did the mercuryS log show?

Did Mercury core process the message?  What did the system log show?

Was it received in a Mercury/32 account?

Was it processed by MercuryE?  What did the log show?  What did the session log show?

Hi,

In the ZenCart Manual (e-Start Your Web Store with

Zen Cart)I read some things to configure Mercury.

I don't use the XAMPP server with the aleady included mercury

mailserver, but I installed the online available mailserver of Pegasus

Mail & Mercury

I should make some changes in the the MERCURY.ini file ,but this file doesn't appear in my Pegasus Mail & mercury folder.

Zen Manual:

Configuring Mercury

Now we have to make sure that all emails for the domain example.com will be handled by our mail server.

To configure your Mercury mail server to use the new domain:

1. Stop the Mercury mail server service via your XAMPP Control Panel.

2. Edit the file <xampp-home>/MercuryMai l /MERCURY. INI with a text editor.

3. Delete and add the following lines in the file.

myname localhost # Canonical name for this server

myname example.com # Canonical name for this server

4. Add the following line just below the words “localhost.com : localhost.com” in the file.

example.com : example.com<xampp-home></xampp-home>

If this is what the Zen manual says it's wrong.  Unless running with Netware there is only one server name in the domains section and the domains should reflect the setup.  Here's what a valid [Domain] section should look like.  This one has both regular domains and domain accounts.

[Domains]

The normal Mercury/32 installed is to c:\mercury and that will be where the mercury.ini file should be located.    If you have Mercury/32  running though it's a whole lot easier to change the domain name using Configuration | Mercury core | Local domains.in the GUI interface.

Thx
I think I have installed Mercury/32. Under File I found Network configuration and I went through the installating wizard.

An email was asked so I 've putted this :  storekeeper@african_masks.com

POP3 server : mail.african_masks.com

SMTP : mail.african_masks.com

User name  and pasword

Then I went to my zencart Admin to send a test mail and I got this error message

Could not connect to SMTP host.

I have a feeling I have still lot to learn.:-)

This looks like you were configuring Pegasus Mail not Mercury.  Do you have the SMTP server (MercuryS) running?  What do you see when you open Configuration in the Mercury/32 console?  You should see something like http://tstephenson/Pegasus/config.jpg  and Configurations | protocols  http://tstephenson.com/pegasus/protocol.jpg if you have the protocols running

No I don't see anything like that. I realise I am not running Mercury/32 , but instead Pegasus mail. Could you tell me where I can download Mercury/32 .

I downloaded it at  http://www.pmail.com/downloads.htm, because I thought mercury/32 was bundled with Pegasus.

HI

I've setup my configuration > local domains like this. Tried to send an email with postmaster@african_masks.com but I didn't get any email.

Local Host or server                     internet name

african_masks                             african_masks

african_masks                             african_mask.com

african_masks                             [84.198.71.115]

I assume you were trying to send mail to a user outside of these domains, i.e. a non-local address.  What are you using to send the mail with Mercury/32?  MercuryC?  MercuryE?  In any case setup session logging on the one you are using to see what the session log says.

 The domain is still local

do not really understand yet what you understand under an outside mail client?

The mail was sent from postmaster@african... which is the domain name of my pc.

For this moment I'm reading this   "Installing WinPMail and Mercury/32 for multi-user standalone
mode" which is very enlightening for newbies[:)]

If it really sends a mail to admin@... where should I finf this one? The domain is still local

In the directory ADMIN as a CNM file.  If you did a normal Mercury/32 install that directory is c:\mercury\mail\admin.  Use Configuration | mercury core and check the  "Local mailbox directory path" is should be something like c:\mercury\mail\~n

Using Pegasus Mail?  As a shandalone POP3 user or did you integrate this with Mercury/32 to cause the mail to be sent to the queue.

Not sure, that's why I keep asking for you do do a session log to see why it is failing.  You said you used MercuryE to send outbound mail.  Let us see a session log from MercuryE.
