The more details the better!... If messages appear briefly in the mailbox directory for the user and then disappears it could perhaps be that you have file based forwarding active for this user, with some kind of incorrect forwarding address and with Deliver-Also set to N.

Hi

I have been running Mercury/32, v4.52 on a Win XP home SP2 machine for about 5 month without any real issues, However in the last couple of weeks incoming mail to one particular user that connects via IMAP ( that also was the user for the postmaster) which has been setup since i started using Mercury has suddenly stopped being delivered. This problem exists for internal & external mail to this user. There would not seem to be any obvious reason for this to have occured no changes in the config for Mercury, User, Alias file, or anything like that. Once i realized this was happening i created a new user account for the postmaster and the resulting delivery failure notices for the user in question read as follows

The attached message has failed delivery and has been referred
to you as postmaster. The following error report or reports
were given to explain the problem:

   *** Xxxx Yyyyyy
User Xxxx Yyyyyy not known at this site.

* please note that the actual charcters of the username have been substituded with Xx & Yy .

Now i have already tried removing the account and recreating it which has had the same result. Interestingly if i open up the Mercury console while sending messages to the user in question the do breifly get delivered to the account but then after say 60 seconds dissapear, then the delivery failure turns up to the postmaster. It does not happen this way if Mercury is just left running in the system tray, the messages just go straight to the postmaster.

If anyone could be of assistance and point me in the right direction to resolve this problem i would be most grateful.

Also i do apologize for such a long first post to these forums.

Regards

grasshopper
