I've not had any problem with AVG in the past.
When I went to check the settings I could not even get it to
load so it must have somehow 'gone down'
I have now reinstalled it and everything is fine.
I'm puzzled by your suggestion to exclude the PM directories
from AVG (if I have understood properly)
This would mean that incoming mail is not being checked for
viruses - which I would have thought is one of the key
reasons for having AVG
