I'm a long time user of Pegasus Mail & recently have been encountering a new (to me) problem.
I have been using version 4.41 since it was made public.
I also have been using Firefox Browser for a long time, however I've recently upgraded it to it's current version 3.0.3.M Operating sys is XP Pro SP2.
They both worked as expected until recently. If I click on a hyperlink in P-Mail & Firefox is already running it will link correctly.
However, if Firefox is NOT previously running it will not open the browser. Instead it creates a Crash notice & report for Firefox .
I don't know if this is P-Mail's problem or Firefox's.
I've tried every combination in Options/Incoming Mail/Hyperlinks without any success.
Wondering if anyone else has encountered this. Any ideas on correcting this appreciated.

Make sure you do not select the "Use URLPROXY.exe". It has not been updated in years and can couse problem with long links at least. I would use either "Find browser automatically" or a full path to the filefox.exe only.
Thomas thanks for your swift reply.
I'm not using the "Use URLPROXY.exe".
I did however try that & it didn't work.
I'm beginning to think that this is definitely a P-Mail problem because I've just tried clicking on a PDF attachment & it causes Acrocbat Reader to NOT open & creates a crash report also.
Any other suggestions appriciated.
If you have AcroRd32.exe specified as the program to open PDF files you might want to check the path in the Content Viewers setting page, especially if you have recently updated Adobe Acrobat because the new version will install in a new directory. Otherwise just try changing to <Let Windows Choose and run an appropriate application> which should normally work.
This will of course NOT affect any problems you are having with Firefox, which has always worked well for me.
The various versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader do go into different locations, so best to not specify a location on this Options panel, but let the Install/Upgrade process make the necessary location adjustments.

Well things keep getting worse.
Tried what you & Chris suggested & the programs crash.
Doesn't matter whether I let windows decide or I point it directly to the program's location.
Now the same happens when trying to open a .wmv file with Win Media Player.
In all these problems IF I save the attachment to the desktop & then try to open it from there it works OK.
This behavior however is something new.
I've scanned my system for virus & everything seems OK.
I d-loaded & ran Mem Test & that checked out OK
Still baffeled.
Maybe I should just re-install P-Mail but I don't want to lose all my Folders & Messages.
Thank you both for your input .
Re installing Pmail will not result in loss of folders or messages. You can install over the top of the existing installation, which probably won't help as all setings get preserved or install a new copy by choosing fresh install and specifying a new location and then copy your mailsboxes into the new installation but not the Pmail root directory where most your settings are saved. Best to test that your link problem is fixed first by forwarding a couple of suitable messages to yourself because some settings are in the mailbox directory too and if they are cousing the problem copying you would not know unless you have tested first.
HOWEVER at least as far as firefox is concerned you might do well to check that in Windows "Set program Access and Defaults" Firefox is your default browser, juast setting it as the default in the prompt it shows when starting does not seem to do this.
PDF files can be a problem especially if Firefox 'owns' them which it sometimes seems to if you install the Firefox PDF plug in, so despite what I said before its probably better to set the pegasus Content viewer to specifically call acrobat reader. To be sure the path etc is right you could just copy it directly from the properties of the Acrobat desktop or start menu shortcut, remember to remove the quotes though as they do not appear to be needed.
If you are in Europe, North America or Australasia I can phone you if you think a shoulder to cry on would be a help, I think the contact tab on this message will do the trick. (I'm not being generous I get free calls from home to all those places!)
Thanks for your suggestions. Not really looking for a "shoulder to cry on" but thanks for the offer.
I'd really like to get eveerything working properly agin in P-Mail.
Frustrating. But I'll continue trying to get things going prior to doing a re-install.
If you want to set all the config files for Pegasus back to their initial states you could try doing a fresh install and then copying the various config files to youe existin installation, having of course backed up the old ones first. There is a list of Pegasus Mail file types which you may find helpful, I certainly have at http://www.vandenbogaerde.net/pegasusmail/pf_pmfiles.html
This may be less diruptive that trying to install a new copy and tranbsfer to it.
