error on replying to forwarded mail

i'm using NDS....

Is there a debug-mode on Pegasus-mail ? Or could I contact David

about this problem ?

There is no debug of sending direct.  You can contact David at David.Harris@pmail.gen.nz

Hi Pegasus friends.

it seems there is a annoying error in Pegasus Mail (running on a Novell Network)
(all pegasus versions)

Sending a REPLY to a local user is resulting in an error IF the recipients mail is forward to another user.
("user's extended feature settings - Forward local mail"  NConfig) 

There is NO problem if you just SEND a mail if mail-forwarding is enabled (in Nconfig),

Is this a Bug ?

Not so much as a bug as a SMTP problem.  The problem is generally the allowing local mail with non-smtp email addresses to go to the internet.  Mail to an SMTP host with a MAIL FROM <username> will fail.  Since mail is forwarded using the original email address of the message then it must not be a simple username. If you force all mail through Mercury then it is not a problem.

 I don't get it.. all users have just a local non-smtp address. (Novell NDS-username), I'm not using Mercury.

take a look at this :

Nconfig settings user B : user's extended feature settings - Forward local mail to : User C

  1. User A send a mail to user B (no problem, user B and user C get this mail)
  2. User B send a reply to user A (no problem)
  3. User B send a mail to user A (no problem)
  4. User A send a reply to user B (Problem !)

 so ? what's the difference between 1 and 4

Check the Reply To: address on the reply.

There is nothing wrong with the address on the reply.  Beside.. If I disable "forward local mail to " in NConfig everything is normal.
Replying on a mail with no forward local mail setting is working properly


The error only occures with 2 specific settings

 reply

AND

 forward local mail is set.

(it's possible that this error only happens when using Novell NDS-usersnames.)

Could you check this out plz ?

Could be but I do not do NDS however this is not a problem on my bindery system.  If the "Reply To:" address is a valid local address on my Netware bindery system there is no problem.
