Signature problems

I have problems with attaching signatures when I send a mail. Sometimes the signature is written correct in the mail after the text, other times it does not show up (I test this facility in mailing to one of my own mail accounts and afterwards retrieving the mail). I can see no pattern in the behaviour and have tried various settings. If I choose that the signature (In Options) shall be shown when I create the mail, it works correct. But I dont want that, I want to be able to choose if there shall be a signature or not when the mail is sent. Any help will be appreciated.
