Mercury /32 IMAP Server Gray Folders

You can run pconfig.exe from the WinPMail program directory to change the home and new mail directory paths.

Try  the following procedure.  This has worked for several others to restore
the functionality of the  message folders:

1.  Use Help | About Pegasus Mail | Info to determine your mail
    directory.  Exit Pegasus mail.

2.  Rename the file HIERARCH.PM in your HOME mail directory to
    HIERARCH.SAV.

3.  Run WinPMail.  Your HIERARCH.PM will be re-created and should
    start working correctly.

Note:  This will delete any tray structure you have created and it
will have to be recreated.  The process will not affect any
mail of mail folders you have, it only affects the display of
           the folders.

Hi,

I'm running a Mercury v4.62 upgraded from 4.52 and having trouble with the IMAP server.  My Thunderbird client is live no issues connecting, but some folders are showing up gray in the list.  These folders are disabled, and I'm not sure if I've lost the mail that they contained or if it's still active in memory somewhere.

Please let me know if this is an issue that is known or has been seen before!  I checked in the list of subscriptions and some of the folders have been created again with new or similar names, but the mail in the old folders is not accessible anymore.  I have looked for an option to reindex folders or change subscriptions or anything else, but to no avail.  These folders appear as a ghost folder.

Behavior is slightly different in Pegasus Mail client.  The gray folders simply don't show up in the list at all.  I am not sure how to edit subscriptions here.

How can this happen?

Thanks,

Kingdon Barrett

First of all I would recommend that you install Pegasus Mail in the direct mode pointing at the mailboxes on the Mercury/32 host.  You can then run at the IMAP4 user and look directly at the folders.  If the folders are gone there as well you can, exit WinPMail,  delete the hierarch.pm file in the users home mail directory, and then run WinPMail again.  If WinPMail can't find the folders they are most likely gone.

I couldn't find an option to change the path of Pegasus MAIL home folder, so I copied my user to the Pegasus folder.  Some of the folders are apparently gone, and some are back to life.

That's kind of disturbing!  I wonder how they did that?

Thanks for the help!
