Question about the trash bin

Thomas, thank you very much, everything works like a charm now!

I really wonder, why it took me so long to figure that out.

Have a nice day.

Hello,

i would like to use the trash bin "Deleted Messages"-Folder as my default spam-folder cause it deletes the messages automatically when closing PMail.

The problem now is:

If i set the Spamhalter to the trash bin, it works only as long as i dont exit PMail. After restarting, the "Deleted Messages"-Folder is gone and so is my default folder for spamhalter.

I've set the options now to: "Deleted Messages folder persists between sessions" which it does, pretty fine, but it's also NOT deleting my messages anymore automatically.

How can i get both work together like i want it to?

The Junk folder is a real annoying thing and i don't understand it's right to exit, especially cause it's not deleting it's messages automatically.

Having the trash bin being my default junk box is great, cause i can just look through without having to do anything, with the exception if i want to move a message out of it.

But it's not working, cause the trash bin disappears or if it persists, it's not deleting the messages anymore.

I'm thankful for any help.

Have a nice day.

Sorry, not possible.  The deleted messages folder is going to be a different folder each time it is started  when you delete on exit.  The long name is the same but the internal folder name will be different.

Hm ok, but they can't be that different. I'm able to uncheck the setting "Trash-Bin persists" and after restarting, the folder is gone and all messages deleted (no matter when they did appear in the trash-bin).

Ok, another question related to this:

How can i create an all persistent message in the trash-bin (so that pegasus deletes all messages but not this one)? Or, if Pegasus deletes the whole folder, a message that is created automatically at startup and "deletes" itself again right on startup of Pegasus to bring back the "trash-bin"-folder?

This way i would be able to use it also the way i want.

I mean, what's the reason for a Junkmail-Box if i still have to delete all the messages inside manually?

That's like if i would have to take each piece of trash out of my trash-bin manually and throw it in the trash-container, piece by piece.

Junk is Junk, i dont want to waste 1sec of my life for it ... ;)

I would also prefer a "delete any message in the junk folder older than 3 days"-option or something similar or is that present and i'm just to blind to find and use it?

----

Edit-Note: Ok, i was able to find the general mail filtering options, and set one for the age of a message but my problem is now: General rulesets are applied to each folder, right? But i want only the Junk-Folder to use this filtering set. How am i able to do this? I'm not able to find an information somewhere, showing me to which folder are which rules applied.

I didnt also find an answer in the help file :(.

Thanks for your time.

A general rule set affects nothing until applied.  You can attach a general rule set to any folder by right clicking on the folder and selecting either the folder open or the folder close option.  Now with you open or close(not move away in preview mode)  the folder the filter will be applied.  This is not automatic, you must actually access the folder for the filter to be applied.

From the help:

Right-clicking a folder, tray or mailbox entry in the Folder Manager list will present a list of options specific to that item.
.
.
The options Attach folder-open rule set, Attach folder-close rule set will be available when you right-click on a folder of any type. These options allow you to associate a filtering rule set with the folder - Folder-open rule sets are applied automatically when the folder is opened, while Folder-close rule sets are automatically applied when the folder is closed. Choosing Detach filter sets from entry will remove the association between the rule set and the folder without deleting or otherwise affecting either the rule set or the folder - the rule sets will simply no longer be applied automatically to the entry.
