David has written a short letter on his current position on open source.

Is there a roadmap and a list of features to look out for in V 5.0 of Pegasus Mail?

Maybe "roadmap" is not the appropriate word here. The developer is alone, it's not opensource, we just support him. He is not committed to a roadmap.

I write whatever suggestions cross my mind here, but I have no demands. If nothing is done, allowing me to participate was already great.

So the question would be if David Harris said anything about future features? Not in details, as far as I know.

No there's no official roadmap.

For both Pegasus Mail and Mercury the development process is that the formal beta testers that participate here and within the open mailing lists, we try to pick up whatever is whished for - then try to understand the whishes, and in some degree either support or discard the whishes. We then translate these whishes and take the discussions within the closed beta groups were David participates.

In the end it is a developer decision whether or not to proceed with the whishes.

As always priority is (in descending order),
security issues
verified malfunctions,
glitches/hickups that easily can be improved
feature additions

 I asked myself:

Why Pmail is not opensource?

I think there would be more advantages if it would be. Am I so wrong with my opinion?

This is only a collecting of opinions. Nothing less or more.

I do not want to exacerbate anyone with my question.
