In Sylpheed or Thunderbird, I click on the "date received" column to sort by date, with newest messages at the bottom of the list. This works in Pegasus as well using "Sort in reverse order."
When I open Sylpheed or Thunderbird and click on a folder in the folder tree, I get a list of messages, sorted with the newest messages at the bottom of the list, and the initial "viewport" of that scrollable list shows the newest ones (the scroll bar is already at the bottom). I have to scroll up to see older messages (but I most often want to see the most recent ones, so no scrolling is required). (BTW, I actually have Sylpheed set up to automatically select the oldest unread message, if there is one)

I have to scroll down to see the most recent messages. The visible messages initially are the oldest ones, from years ago, and to see the messages I got yesterday, an additional action (scrolling down) is required. Is there a setting somewhere to automate that extra step... to scroll to the newest messages?
Sorry if I'm being dense. I was expecting this email client to sort like the others I've used. When it didn't, I figured I could change it by checking a checkbox somewhere. I haven't found that checkbox yet [:S]
