I've not followed up on my posts and the great help I was receiving from Thomas because I decided to upgrade my computer and thought a fresh install would do the trick. The computer is now built and I've successfully installed version 4.5.0 (beta) on the 64bit o/s.
Then, using the charts on "Han's" web site, I copied over all my
folders (leaving duplicate copies behind), my address books and
Distribution lists, and my signature files. I felt that by doing it
this way, rather than copying everything over, I might eliminate the
problem that first brought me here over 2 months ago. It didn't.... I still can't do a
"save copy" with specific letters. I've tried saving to different
folders, I've tried making new folders, I've tried deleting old folders
and replacing them with new ones. Still, for some strange reason, I'm
unable to save some letters (for example, if I try to keep a copy of a
letter I send to my daughter it won't accept it so I have to mail a
copy to myself and then move it to the designated folder) - - but, if I go to the "Review Queued Mail" tray before sending the letter out, I can then save a copy to the very same folders that it won't go to when I tried earlier..
NEW problems have since developed:
The "Open or Rescan Your New Mail Folder" button is inactive.
The option to have mail that I've read moved from the "New Mail" folder to the special "New Mail" folder (created by Pegasus during the installation process), suddenly stopped working and, instead, the read mail was being deleted from the main New Mail folder (I stopped this from happening by clicking the "All read messages......" button in the settings folder.
When Pegasus first opens, and the New Mail folder opens, I've got it set to automatically check for new mail. It won't. I've got to click the "Check your pop3 host for new mail" button.
Since I've done a completely clean re-install on a brand new hard drive, and I then made sure that nothing was duplicated in the copying over of old files (I didn't replace any of the newly installed program files), I'm still asking the question: Is it me, or is it a bug in 4.5 beta??
Thanks again for your earlier help, your patience and, hopefully, upcoming help.
Ted
