Forwarding a message is creating an attachment

As Thomas explained, a message forwarded with attachments will contain an attachment made up of the original message content.  It will contain two such attachments if the original message was received in both a plain text version and an HTML version.  One will be listed with file type "plain text" and the other with "HTML text".  You can remove them before sending.

I am using Pegasus ver 4.50 PB1 (Win 32).

If I receive an email without any attachments and Forward it, the forwarded message includes an attachment.

When I Forward, I select "Forwarding with editing" and  "Forward any attachments". The added attachment seems to be just a copy of the text in the original message. It seems the "Forward any attachments" option is causing an attachment to be created. Is this normal?

Yes, there is a message part that is assumed to be an attachment.  If there were only MIME attachments allowed then it would be easier to detect when a message part is or is not an attachment but as it stands you have to look at the attachments and delete the ones that you do not want.

It should not happen, because by "attachment" the average user understands a document, and expect the forwarded message text to be a part of the new message.

Besides, mime attachments also clog the Attachments column in the windows. I am not interested in knowing whether someone sent me a message with a mime attachment or not. I am interested in pdf, doc, jpg.....

I have a similar problem. Or rather my recipient, who has complained they could not open the attachment, and did not know what it was. I promised I'd look into this for them. (I am aware I am replying to a 10 year old thread.)

The email I'm forwarding (continuing a discussion) is replicated in the body, so the recipient had no reason to suspect it would be the content of the mystery attachment, they managed to open the other attachments ok.
