Thanks guys for the feedback (and especially the tip concerning my log). I just changed my password, and it seems to work again with PM. I'll keep a close look on the further development though ;)

this is my first post as a new user, so I'll introduce myself first. My name is Thomas Morwinsky and I've been a happy PM user for almost 13 years. Within the last week an annoying problem came up though (I found similar problems in other threads here, but they didn't really fit to me).

I am located in Germany and use GMX. At first sending mail became unreliable (I did not change any settings in Pegasus; it just came out of the blue), but it worked mostly if I tried several times or re-started PM. For the past two or three days this doesn't work anymore and sending has become impossible, though receiving works fine. In addition, sending through the web-interface of GMX works fine as well.

EDIT: I am using Windows XP Pro on the latest patch-level and PM v.4.41

GMX sent me a mail on March 12th that they will be disabling "APOP" or "CRAM-MD5" authentification after March 16th. That wasn't a problem, since I already used a secure  connection by STARTTLS before (without any issues). I log in by STARTTLS and SMTP authentification with my GMX member number and password (hasn't changed either).

The log I get is like the following:

 The last (mp...) can also take other numbers. I already had mp35, 60, 64 etc.

I also tried the other authentification methods offered by PM, but they produce similar results (I can  post those logs as well if that would help).

It might be a problem specific to my GMX account in PM, since my wife who is on another machine can log in to GMX via PM and send mails using identical authentification method to mine. I can also log in to another provider and send mails via PM through him without any issues. I am really annoyed at the problem with my GMX account, since this is my main account with thousands of archived mails since about 1997.

Ich habe seit vielen Jahren einen Mailkonto bei GMX und verwende seit Anfang an Pegasusmail. Mit GMX hatte ich noch nie Sende / Empfangsprobleme, auch nicht seit der kürzlichen Update - Info. Ich verwende mit GMX nur direkte SSL - Verbindungen mit aktivem Fingerprint und Zertifikatsüberprüfung. Als Mailprogramm verwende ich Pmail V4.50 PB DE. I just altered to send my mail by SSL connection (though without fingerprint) as you suggested. Here's the log:

I suspect that anything in my local PM GMX account might be corrupt or not working properly, because the error is so specific on this account only and on this machine. Might there be something that I could check in my installation?

Now would be a very good time to get hold of GMX support & change your password.

It may solve your problem if the error message is correct, but the base64 account details above are 'encoded' not 'encrypted', and you have just announced you username & password to the world :)
