Number connected not correct.
All of my users connect using IMAP.  The IMAP4 server shows no connections but by the licensing statement at the bottom it shows three are connected.  What could these three mysterious connections be or how could I figure out?
In the current incarnations of Mercury, user counting is done solely on mail delivered. So, each time a message is delivered to a user who has not received mail since the last time Mercury started up, the user count is incremented. Connections to a mailbox, whether by POP3 or IMAP, do not affect the active user count (although clearly if we ever move to stricter licensing requirements, they will have to do so).

With this definition in mind, all the diagnostic you're seeing means is that three discrete users have received new mail since the last time Mercury started up.

Cheers!

The licensing information at the bottom of the Mercury window does I believe show how many different users that have been active since system start-up.

I believe this say active users not connected users.  Mail being delivered to a users new mail directory makes this user an active user.  It's also possible that there is some delay in updating the display when the IMAP4 users are set to update their accounts on a regular basis.

You are absolutely right.  I there is a big difference between active and connected.  Good catch.

I believe the count is handled in the core, and increased by one for each local maildrop, including mailing lists and off-site relays. But I'll have a word with David on the exact defintion to be put up at the wiki.
