At this point, your only hope is probably an  undelete utility.  Thomas can probably advise on a good one -- I haven't used one in so long I wouldn't know what to recommend.  But for future reference, if the sending person is commonly sending you important mail, I would advise setting a filter at the top of your filtering list to pull his/her mail into a separate folder before other rules fire.

But thanks to twitter, this might help:  http://lifehacker.com/5237503/five-best-free-data-recovery-tools

Hello All,

I just downloaded a large email 4.3mb, it took a long time, as I have dial-up, but it seemed to finish ok. However, I can't find it anywhere, and it's gone from the queue. Can anyone tell me if

1) it's still banging around in my system anywhere, and

2) if so, how do I find it?

Or, must I write to the sender and ask that they re-send the message?

Thanks so much to anyone who can help.

Hard to say, a filter may have deleted it.  In this case you may need to use one of the undelete utilities to recover the delete CNM file.

2) if so, how do I find it?

The file would have been download to your NEW mail directory and it will be a *.CNM file.

Or, must I write to the sender and ask that they re-send the message?

Hi, thanks for replying....

It did originally go into the deleted messages. I moved it into new mail, but it

never got there. Do you think it's still around? It's critical information, and I have

asked to have it re-sent, but no one has re-sent it yet. It would be a lot better for

me if I could recover it somehow.

I do keep deleted messages until I exit, but it's too late for that.

What do you think? Is it still there somehow?

I can't find any undelete utilities, and while I see lots of CNM files, I don't know what to do with them.
