Then either the drive is failing or there is something else affecting the queue directory.

Whenever i get a 550 error when sending an email (mistyped address) mercury crashes and wont restart until i clear the queue.  any ideas?

Something interfering heavily with the queue directory, perhaps? Run chkdsk while you are at it, won't hurt.

I agree with Rolf, something is interfering with Mercury and it's probably the anti-virus software or a bad hard drive.  Could you ensure the a-v software is not scanning any of the Mercury directories?
