If you want, you can create aliases that map fred@myhomenetwork.local to fred and wilma@myhomenetwork.local to wilma, but that is optional as long as you have myhomenetwork.local listed in the Local Domains tab of the Mercury core module configuration.

Yes, of course. Otherwise Thunderbird has no idea where to find the mail, which will be sitting on the Mercury server. Also, you have to tell Thunderbird where to send the outgoing mail, which would be the Mercury server as well. Thus, within Thunderbird, find where you configure the SMTP and POP3 server entries. Set both of them to be the IP address of your Mercury server. In the POP3 configuration in Thunderbird, configure the username and password exactly like you set it up within Mercury for one of the users. Also configure Thunderbird with the correct "From" address. e.g. fred@myhomenetwork.local

?? Thunderbird or Mercury? Mercury doesn't seend the mail to any computer. The clients are supposed to download the mail from Mercury via POP3. You have to configure Thunderbird's POP3 profile so that it can download new mail from the Mercury server via the POP3 protocol.

Please check the Mercury console windows. Anything sent from TBird to Mercury should show up in the MercuryS SMTP Server module window. Assuming that happened correctly, the Mercury core module window would be the next to process the message and to deliver it into the recipient user's local mailbox on the Mercury server. It should appear as a .CNM file in the user's Mercury mailbox, along with the password file. Obviously something in the MercuryS or Mercury core processes didn't work, meaning something is misconfigured. Check those console windows and let me know what happened. You can also check the log files, which usually will be in a LOGS subdirectory under the Mercury program directory.
