Pegasus Mail Suggestions
A small suggestion regarding comments possibilities

Hi all !

I see David has been recently struck by a bolt of blues about his work and the community but I hope he will find the inner strenght to get up, stand up on his feets and keep going forward. That said, I am taking this thread out from the forgotten depths of this forum in order to ask David if he has implemented my suggestion in the next version of the flying horse. Three years back, he found that was a good idea with a weak degree of coding difficulty. Is it still the same ? Has this suggestion been left aside ? If so, is it permanently aside or not ?

I hope David will take some time to answer to this post.

Keep up the good work !

That's all folks !

Hi all !

It is possible to attach comments to messages, but why not extend this feature to trays and folders. If this is not so difficult to do, then maybe David could consider it for the next release.

Cheers !

Hello

While I understand what you are suggesting, the implementation may be complex, as trays and folders are part of a hierarchy, which is quite fragile.  I would suggest you just create a simple text file with the foldername obtained from its Properties display, and a filetype of .txt

This will be forwarded for consideration, thanks for the suggestion

A good idea, really - simply not one I'd ever thought of before. I can see some issues with how the annotations/comments would be displayed, but that's unlikely to be difficult to solve.

I'll certainly note this idea as a good one to consider as development continues - thanks!

Cheers!

I think it's a great idea. I use comments (annotations) related to messages quite frequently and I feel that it would be a useful function to add to folders and trays as well. However, in both cases I would like to see those comments to be more accessible and visible (on demand). Maybe a mouse over bubble when passing over the green dot (and pausing for a second) or the folder/tray icon with the option to click for additions? Not sure whether technically feasible - just an idea.
Cheers

As a small addition:
Just sprang into my mind in relation to annotations of messages. With computer screens getting larger and larger, a typical message window only covers max 1/3 or half of my screen. I could think of an option of having a resizable and hideable additional column in the message screen (without abolishing the annotation flap), which would allow to add comment at the side?
Cheers

Hi !

I just wanted to know if my suggestion regarding comments was part of the latest version of Pegasus Mail (which, by the way is the only reason I am not switching to Linux). Thanks for delivering version 4.51 and for your hard work.

Cheers !

I know what you mean, Whiskyfizz. I've got a nice shiny new Linux installation that I'm really struggling to find major fault with. In fact, the only thing I think I'd miss if I moved to it full-time is Pegasus.

Now David goes and drops this lovely new version and I'm torn again. Damn you!  :)

I never really played with the beta version too much (despite its gestation time) so the autofiltering is completely new to me, but it seems an absolute stonker of a feature. Lots to enjoy in this release if you ask me. Good job all round.
